Jeff Carrel Fitou la Tyre 2018. There’s a fair bit of Jeff Carrel hype among the bigger French online merchants. I fell for it about three years ago and bought a mixed dozen. The wines he makes seem rather heterogeneous to me, and the house style is very shouty and tart around the edges. Not really my kind of thing. Although they have improved a little over time they still don’t appeal. You can buy better, more interesting wines in a supermarket from a reputable co-operative in my opinion. I will remember to be wary of the trinity of wine-maker, merchant and ‘90 points!’ critic working in harmony in future.
