Day 73 – St Abbs Head

Bellingham Bernard Series Roussanne 2020

Not one of the more ubiquitous single varietals, and apparently sometimes confused with Viognier – on at least one occasion controversially so. I’m not sure I’ve tried Roussanne on its own before, but if this is typical I found it less flowery and more acidic than Viognier. I don’t mean that in a bad way at all – I really liked this. A little bit of oak and limey citrus. Excellent value for money at the £6.75 I paid when Sainsbury’s were offering it at 25% off. In fact, I thought, I like this so much that I’ll get some more seeing that the Sainsbury promo is being repeated right now. Damn and blast, they have stopped stocking it. Oh well, I’ll have to make do with the single one I have left…
